Hypercheck: an innovative service

Hypercheck is a service for the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension. A simple and innovative service, with a unique type of organization.

It was created for

  • Being able to carry out all the required investigations in a single morning with a single appointment
  • Provide the definitive answer and summary of the patient’s situation at one time from a single specialist
  • To be able to give the patient and his attending physician a detailed and updated report

This will allow not only to have a correct diagnosis of the pathology, but also to reduce time and costs. Costs that will be significantly lower than the sum of those of each individual examination.

Moreover, Hypercheck provides the support of a sophisticated computer system: the patient’s clinical data are entered into a specially created software and calibrated on the latest scientific evidence and international guidelines for hypertension.

The final report will be sent to the attending physician who will then have valuable information and an updated clinical overview.

The specialist at Villa Silvia remains at the disposal of both the patient and his or her attending physician for any clarifications and comparisons.

Example of the service

  • 08.15 Data collection
  • 08.30 Blood draw

  • 09.45 Cardiological examinationElectrocardiogram
  • 10.45 24-hour blood pressure monitoring instrument application

The cost is 300 euros including the remote control visit of about 1 month.

What is arterial hypertension?
Hypertension is an abnormal increase in blood pressure. The latter is the energy with which the blood circulates in the vessels and depends on the thrust impressed by the heart and the elasticity of the vessels, the stiffer they are, the higher the pressure will be.

Hypertension, if left untreated, can cause damage to vital organs such as the heart, brain and kidneys.

According to the NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the largest public health control body in the USA), out of 100 hypertensive patients only 68.4% know that they are hypertensive; only 53.6% are treated and only 27.4% achieve optimal control of values after treatment.

Symptoms of hypertension
Often it is absolutely asymptomatic at least until the disease is secondary to the damage caused by hypertension itself (e.g. heart attack, stroke, etc.); sometimes non-specific symptoms such as headache (headache), dizziness, ringing in the ears, twinkle in the eyes.

Causes of hypertension
In the vast majority of cases (essential hypertension) there is not a single cause but a set of causes including, for example, familiarity (in a small percentage – secondary hypertension), renal, cardiac, hormonal causes, which are well identifiable and it is in these cases that the therapy will be aimed at removing the cause that causes hypertension; in the other cases, with rare exceptions, one must treat for life.

Diagnosis and treatment
As the latest international scientific evidence has shown, it is not enough to know the basal blood pressure value. In fact, with the same blood pressure values you can switch from no therapy for some patients to aggressive treatments for others.

In order to treat patients suffering from high blood pressure in the most effective way, it is also essential to have detailed information on:

  • Cardiovascular risk category
  • Presence of possible damage caused by high blood pressure to other organs (heart, brain, kidneys)

To get this information you need to run:

  • Blood test
  • Cardiological visit
  • Electrocardiogram
  • Doppler color echocardiogram
  • Doppler of the neck vessels
  • 24-hour pressure monitoring

If you don’t choose an integrated and fast solution like our HyperCheck, this can mean to this day:

  • Having 5 different appointments on 5 different dates (even with some months waiting between appointments) and paying, if due, 5 different tickets
  • Have 5 answers from 5 different specialists who report only every single exam
  • Lack of a summary of the overall clinical picture
  • Up to 6 months waiting time
